Beach plum

A popular plant for its fruit among coastal residents the Beach plum opens its season with a show of white flowers. Bees will no doubt be attracted to its nectar. The fruit resemble tiny green Granny Smith apples at first then ripen green. In addition to any local wildlife, island residents love to collect its sweet fruit to make jellies and other recipes. (Some communities even have festivals to praise their arrival): Fruiting aside, the plant itself looks great with its lush green leaves supported by its red, twigs of new growth.
